Barry Gray is no stranger to fame in his chosen field of woodturning. Over the years he has won top awards for his intricate and artful work. He is more than a hobbyist when it comes to his skills in the pastime he took up in 2012.
This past weekend Barry’s spectacular work, “Tornado,“ took second place in the St George Art Festival. In a competition that taps winners from the “Best of the Best” in artists who show their work over the two-day festival, Gray came out at the head of the pack again.
His winning piece was sculpted from a total of 2490 tiny pieces of wood assembled in a block that was painstakingly formed to reveal the rhythm and depth of color of those confetti-like pieces as he turned and carved the block into a funnel-shaped vessel. His impeccable work must be seen to be truly appreciated!
Naming his woodturning business, Mesquite from Mesquite, Barry tips his hat to his adopted home town. We are glad to have you and your talent here in our community, Barry! Call Barry at 435-559-8304 to learn more about his next show and gallery displays.
