The City of Mesquite Building Department issued 45 permits for single family residential construction in February that continues the boom in new home construction that began last fall. That’s an increase from February 2020 when 27 permits were issued in this category.
Valuations of the single-family residential permits came in at $8.837 million compared to $6.961 million a year ago.
In February 2019 the city issued 17 permits valued at $4.083 million for new home construction.
Overall, the city issued 199 building permits in February with a total valuation of $10.314 million. Last year those numbers were 130 permits valued at $8.468 million.
Pulte Homes of Nevada who constructs all the new homes in Sun City Mesquite took out 20 permits in February for new homes. Nevada Residential Construction (NRC) took out 16 permits for new homes. Twelve of those permits were for two-unit townhomes being constructed on Haley Way just off Turtleback Road. According to NRC salesman Trent Graves, all but four of the homes are already sold.
Jackson Contracting, LLC took out three permits for new home construction. Maves Construction Inc, Meadowland Enterprises, JLA Construction LLC, Eagle View Contractors, Holyoak Homes, and a private builder each took out one permit for new single-family homes in February.
The most expensive single-family home construction permit was valued at $313,872 with the least expensive permit valued at $149,214.
Ten permits were issued this February for residential modifications compared to nine last year. Valuations rose from $49,109 last year to $836,598 this year.
Four commercial modification permits were issued by the city valued at $117,495. That compares to four permits in the same category issued in February 2020 valued at $298,042.
Last year the city issued four new business permits compared to three this year.
The number of permits issued for block walls decreased from 13 in February 2020 to nine permits this year. The valuation of the permits dropped from $87,321 to $36,580 this year.
The city issued 11 permits for swimming pools this year valued at $222,260 up from nine permits last year valued at $113,498.
One grading permit was issued, equal to the number issued last year.
